Alhamdullillah...All went well.. I mean my BIL engagement ceremony was went very well. I have to wait a pictures from our photographer to handover his job of the day before I can published in my blog or flickr. Akak tak ambik gambar... takde masa dik non... maklumla.. akak kan planner... orang fenting!! (bwekkk!!)
I'm so tired. With all activities (that most of the time makan, talk, makan & talk)... its really tiring me.. but somehow I feel blessed. After the function, all of us gathers back at my IL's house to have some hi-tea, solat and lepak session. I got a challenge from cousins to eat sireh. Actually we are challenging each other. So she start first without kapur, gambir and pinang. I'm kind off .... errgghhhh!! And she failed. Then my turn. So as adviced by Mak As... I put in kapur, gambir and pinang. Fold the leave and all eyes start staring at me... suspen sungguh...
So after berfikir more than 100 times... I said what the heck! I can eat raw cabbage with belacan mentah and asam jawa mentah during my team building session... so this could be nothing much for me. Then the leaves into my mouth.
I munch.. and munch... at first rasa cam kan ulam je ... but when you start smelling bau sireh tu... then I can taste real sireh. I don't know how to describe... seriously... bukan tak nak share rasa but you have to try it by yourself in order for you to feel it. I manage to finished them. Siap ada aksi bukak mulut to prove it ahahahah... and then memasing.... "uiii... gigi lidah dah merah!!" hahahha... mulut aku jadi cam mulut mak enon dah...
She wants to retry. So she put in all "ingredients" in. Then start to munch. Half way when its start produce the smell, she had to run to kitchen sink to throw back on whatever in her mouth.... hahahah gagal ler...
Then real mak enon which is Mak As start to munch the sireh. Her mouth is more reddish than mine. I think maybe she ate slow and steady... and the coloring & taste was covering all over her mouth. Like me I munch as fast as I can and swallow it as when the size it right enough to passing thru to much throat.
Sambil kunyah-kunyah tu Mak As siap la bercerita... "kalau nak pedas taruk kapur byk sket... kalau tak tahan pedas... sikit cukup la... gambir tu tak taruk pon takpa... yg penting kapur & pinang..."
Waaa... tak ku tahu ada rules ghupanya nak makan sireh ni.. ingatkan boleh main belasah je....

I know the story kind of hanging.. kids want to watch Cinderella... I pon dah tak ingat nak tulis apa semlm....

you makan sireh? wow! .. my grandmother used to eat a lot of sireh .. addicted , I think she was .. so, my roles was the mengupas the pinang with that thingy, entah apa pulak namanya .. it's really cool ..and I used to buatkan the sireh for her .. short of putting it in my mouth aje la ..
p/s pedih mulut tak? lepas tu takde kaler merah ke mulut? ish .. excited pulak ..

used to curik my grandma's also when i was small. i think i can still remember how it tasted like. not that bad la :p
mosh.. grandma you makan sireh? In my family none of my grandparents at both side yg makan sireh...
if those very faint memories of hers is correct la. she passed away when i was 7 and that was the last grandparent that i had, maternal or paternal. my parents are both the second last one out of 7 (my mum) and 10 (my dad).
ehh i pun teringat nenek sedara suka beno makan sirih...tapi bila bukak mulut ayoyoooo..oooggglyy lah.
tapi tererlaa you makan sirih...kalau bab jamu, i boleh la sahut cabaran, tapi sirih nie ..*gulp* awal2 i akan ngaku kalah :P
